US IN THE SON DAY CAMP VOLUNTEER IN TRAINING(ViT) FACT SHEET

If you are entering 7th grade and are looking to gain leadership skills and work with children, then you are encouraged to be a Volunteer in Training for Us In The Son Day Camp. ViT’s will be in a group with our ViT counselors and will participate in arts and crafts, games, activities in leadership and opportunities to gain more responsibility as a leader.

Day campers are free to sign up for as many sessions as they would like to participate in. Each session runs Monday-Friday and consists of 2 field trips. Tuesdays are park days and Wednesdays are beach days. Your child will be supervised within their group and be able to participate in faith-filled fun activities while enjoying the excursion for the day.

As a ViT you will be attending either Session 1 or Session 2 of our day camp sessions. ViT’s will be able to participate in many of camp’s exciting activities, but will be introduced to the responsibilities of a volunteer through guidance in leadership skills and responsibilities along with other ViT’s within their own group.     Day campers are free to sign up for as many sessions as they would like to participate in. Each session runs Monday-Friday and consists of 2 field trips. Tuesdays are park days and Wednesdays are beach days. Your child will be supervised within their group and be able to participate in faith-filled fun activities while enjoying the excursion for the day.

The ViT’s day begins promptly at 7:45 am and concludes at 4:00pm. ViT’s must attend all five days for the entire scheduled week and for the entire scheduled times mentioned above. Please choose a week that will suite your schedule best!     Day campers are free to sign up for as many sessions as they would like to participate in. All ViT’s, volunteers, and staff attend 8:00 am mass each morning. Pants, or appropriate length (to the knees) shorts and skirts, are acceptable for mass.     Day campers are free to sign up for as many sessions as they would like to participate in. The staff will be providing a program for all volunteers and ViT’s before camp. This is not optional! This program is specially designed to develop your leadership skills as a volunteer and ViT.     Day campers are free to sign up for as many sessions as they would like to participate in. Each session runs Monday-Friday and consists of 2 field trips. Tuesdays are park days and Wednesdays are beach days. Your child will be supervised within their group and be able to participate in faith-filled fun activities while enjoying the excursion for the day.

ViT’s need to bring sack lunches each day with their names on them. Punch will be provided by camp, but you are welcome to bring your own drink.     Day campers are free to sign up for as many sessions as they would like to participate in. Your child will be supervised within their group and be able to participate in faith-filled fun activities while enjoying the excursion for the day.

ViT’s will be given one volunteer T-shirt on the Thurs. of their session, which will be worn on Friday. Additional shirts can be purchased for $7.00 each. If you have any further questions please contact us through the parish office or in the summer please call (714) 970-2521.
