Dear Parishioners,
Here at St. Martin de Porres, our parish is all about loving each other to heaven. In everything we do we keep our eyes fixed on heaven. Yet our feet are firmly fixed on the ground. We know we have an arduous journey ahead as we walk together in the presence of our God. We know that often times our beliefs are opposed by the secular world. We know that we have to be steadfast in faith, persistent in hope, and unwavering in love.
Loving each other to heaven begins with the Eucharist. As we worship our God at the Eucharistic table, we are united into the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church by the Body and Blood of Christ. We generously make ourselves present before God and one another at each Mass in humble response to the miracle of the Real Presence. The Sacrament of the Eucharist makes it true that we do not make our journey to heaven together alone, but together in communion with God.
Loving each other to heaven also means we need to share our faith in the context of our daily life. We need to have opportunities to tell each other our personal experience of God, to concretely support each other in times of need, to lovingly challenge one another to the truth. This is the reason why St. Martin de Porres Small Christian Communities (SCC) exist. I hope every parishioner of our parish will belong one day to a Small Christian Community. Because it is then I know that we are all growing into a deeper communion with God and one another in our Catholic faith.
