We, the members of St. Martin’s Small Christian Communities are:
Connected. We are friends. In our spiritual walks and daily life, we help and care for each other. Beyond our own small group, we are connected with other SCCs in the parish and with St. Martin’s parish at large.
Journeying. We travel together, celebrating each others’ victories and supporting each other in times of need. We learn from and teach each other through our own lived experiences. Our lessons involve both practical life skills and spiritual awakenings. We are companions on the road of life. Jesus accompanies us.
Growing. We search for meaning, joy, hope, peace, light and love. We search for a life that makes sense. Therefore, we search for God, for a deeper communion with Him. In accepting his invitation to follow Him, we embrace both sides of growth:
1. Challenge, discomfort, awakening, transformation, reconciliation, and letting go
that leads to
2. A new life of joy, hope, peace, light and love.
We grow together
From selfishness toward service,
From stress toward peace,
From anger toward forgiveness,
From confusion toward wisdom,
From judgment toward acceptance,
From wanting toward gratitude,
From fear toward courage, and
From ownership toward stewardship.
We grow from ourselves toward Christ.
Living Jesus’ call. We are the Body of Christ on earth. We are His face to those who need a smile, His hands to those who need support, His heart to those who long for love, His feet to those who need to be carried. We do not underestimate the significance of the call that Jesus has made, nor our individual and collective power to fulfill it. The Face of God is in His people, and we are His people.
Catholic. We are Catholic. As such, we share the beauty of the Eucharist, the sacraments, the communion of saints, our Blessed Mother, our lineage to Peter, and all things that unify us. Our Catholicism is a supporting pillar, not a barrier. All are welcome to join us on the journey, regardless of their beliefs. All are beautiful children of God. But our group is built upon our faith. We seek to learn it, love it, and grow in it throughout our lives.
