 | Altar
Care
Altar Care is a ministry that is
always in process. There are many jobs in need of a sincere heart and a
willingness to provide selfless, humble service for the care of the church
sanctuary. Some tasks take five or ten minutes while others can take from 30
minutes to an hour or more. Most church cleaning tasks are done either on
Monday mornings immediately following the 6:30 a.m. Mass, or on Friday or
Saturdays, and differs greatly on holy days. If this ministry interests you,
please contact us for more information about how you can help.

Altar
Servers
Being an altar server is a special privilege. It allows youth to be
close to the altar, carry the cross or incense, carry the light of Christ,
wear the robe of Baptism, hold the Book of the Prayers, lead processions,
and assist at the Lord's table with water and wine. By serving God in
church, altar servers learn how to serve God outside of church by helping
people who are in need, taking care of each other and the earth that we live
on, and loving people whom no one else loves. We
welcome reverent and responsible boys and girls, 5th grade and above, to
become altar server candidates. A training workshop is offered in the fall.
Also, we offer computerized scheduling, which makes it easy to coordinate
schedules with siblings and/or parents who also serve in liturgical
ministries.

Eucharistic
Ministers
Life as
a Eucharistic minister is one of both being and giving the Body of Christ.
Those who take on this ministry must, above all else, know how to be truly
present to others. It is important for Eucharistic ministers to have, or
soon acquire, a grace in movement and reverence in touch, since their work
involves taking in hand the vessels of consecrated bread and wine and
sharing them with everyone. Their reverence for what they carry is seen and
felt by all, not as false humility, but as a pure joy and delight in the
sharing of the Lord's body and blood.
This
ministry is open to baptized and confirmed men, women, young adults and
youth 18 years or older. Please call if you or someone you know is
interested in becoming a Eucharistic minister.

 | Hospitality
The
ministers of hospitality are those who welcome and offer hospitality during
Masses. They greet people warmly, welcome visitors, help people sit
together, distribute bulletins, care for any needs and emergencies, take up
collection, help with good order at communion, and make sure that the first
and last face everyone sees at church is a smiling face. While everyone in
the assembly share responsibility for hospitality, the ministers of
hospitality are those who are specifically assigned.
We
are looking for men, women, young adults, youth and families of all ages to
serve as ministers of hospitality (ushers). Please call if you or someone
you know is interested in this special ministry. A training workshop is
offered.

Lectors
Lectors
are the storytellers of our faith community. They must be at home with the
scriptures, love them and pray with them. The special gifts of lectors are
good public reading skills and the ability to draw everyone into the
scriptures. Lectors do not merely read the texts, but proclaim the readings
with meaning and enthusiasm.
When
you answer the call to be a minister of the Word (one who proclaims the
Bible readings to the assembled faith community), you enter a deeper
relationship with the Word of God as revealed in sacred scripture. You take
on the duty and privilege of bringing the printed word to life.
We
invite baptized and confirmed men, women, young adults and youth as lector
candidates and offer extensive preparation for service in this ministry.
Please call if you or someone you know is interested in becoming a lector.

Respect
Life
"Every voice matters in the public forum. Every vote counts.
Every act of responsible citizenship is an exercise of significant
individual power. We must exercise that power in ways that defend
human life, especially those of God's children who are unborn, disabled or
otherwise vulnerable." (U.S. Bishops, Living the Gospel Life, 1998)
Human life is sacred at all stages of life . . . from those who are not yet
born to those drawing their last breaths. The goal of our committee is
to be a voice in the community in support of all life, to be visible
witnesses for life and to educate the parish and community about important
life issues. Respect Life committee meets monthly on the fourth
Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
