Mission Statement The Missionaries of the Little Way unite in prayer and sacrifice for the conversion of souls and the fruitfulness of our parish’s evangelization efforts. Inspired by St. Thérèse of Lisieux, we take up the hidden, powerful work of intercession, offering our small sacrifices so Christ may win many hearts.
Why St. Thérèse of Lisieux? Known as “The Little Flower” and declared the Patroness of the Missions by Pope Pius XI in 1927, St. Thérèse of Lisieux never left her convent walls—yet she became one of the greatest missionaries in the history of the Church. Through her “Little Way” of offering small sacrifices with great love, she united herself to Christ’s saving mission and brought countless souls to Him. This ministry follows her example, embracing hidden acts of prayer and sacrifice so that, through God’s grace, hearts may be converted and the Gospel may bear fruit in our parish and beyond.
How It Works
Pick one day that recurs each month (i.e., September 5, October 5, November 5, etc.)
On that day choose one specific form of prayer and one specific form of sacrifice
Examples of Prayer: Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Holy Hour, Mass, etc.
Examples of Sacrifice: A specific fast from food (1 meal, only bread/water, etc.), offering up bodily illness/suffering, acts of self-denial, etc.
Offer your prayer and sacrifice for the conversion of souls and the fruitfulness of our parish's evangelization efforts
What if I forget my day? If you miss your chosen day, simply offer your prayer and sacrifice on the next available day you can. God receives every sincere offering, even if it’s late. Consider setting a calendar reminder or alarm to help you remember each month.
What if my date is taken? Currently, there is one spot for each day of the month. This is because we want to cover every day of the year in prayer before having more than one person on each day. After each day is filled, we will then allow for more than one person to sign up for the same day.
Can I switch my date? Yes. Life happens, and you are welcome to switch to another day if needed. Just update your signup so the calendar stays accurate and others can see which days are still open.
What if I can’t fast from food? Sacrifice isn’t limited to fasting from food. You can choose another meaningful sacrifice such as giving up social media, TV, coffee, or another comfort. The goal is to unite a sacrifice with your prayer for the conversion of souls—choose something that is both spiritually and personally meaningful.
What if I want to do more than one day? You are welcome to commit to more than one day each month if you feel called. Some participants choose a primary day and then add extra days when possible. Every additional offering of prayer and sacrifice is a gift to God and can help bring more souls to Him.
